Business Missions of Rahab
Joshua 2:1-14
1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
2 The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.”
3 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land.”
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from.
5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.”
6 (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.)
7 So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut.
8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof
9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you.
10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed.
11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
12 “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign
13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them?and that you will save us from death.”
14 “Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”
The prostitute Rahab said this. If you look at Joshua chapter 2:11, she gave a confession,
“God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”
She gave an outstanding confession.
?Business Missions of Rahab?
Today we are going to take a look at the business missions of Rahab. There’s a record in the Bible that He lifts up the proud and shames the proud. Does that mean that 1 Cor 1:27 it says “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.” Does that mean that God does not use the strong, but only uses the weak? That’s not what it means. What he is asking is “If man is strong, is he going to be stronger than the man?” He’s asking does man’s wisdom surpass God’s wisdom? But many outstanding people did not give this confession. That is why God is saying, “I called a people who are weak like you to give this confession.” If we are not careful, we might think that God does not use the wise. But that’s not what this means.

What is the most important thing Rahab did in the most important time schedule?
2. Needed
She did the most needed work.
3. Devotion
Here, she devoted herself. This is how you need to do church work. Really the time schedule that God desires. If you are doing something that God does not even want, that’s in vain. What the work that God truly needs? That’s where you need to be. That’s what Rahab did. That’s tremendous. Isn’t it?
Full fledge, we are going to go towards the 5000 people groups from this year. I’ll do that directly together with our pastors of the Senior Board. Most people when they give me their reports or they give me the proposals, it does help me. But what they can’t find is the way. Do you know what evangelism is? They go into the field and let’s say I meet a person like Esther. It doesn’t matter whether this person believes or not. Through that person, you can find all the ways. That’s the way for evangelism. There were about a couple of thousands in the dormitory. I was able to convince their superintendent. Before speaking with the superintendent, I bought that person a cup of coffee and I told him the Gospel. This person happened to be a church-goer. Church-goer was going back and forth the church. The kind of church goer who goes back and forth every once in awhile. After hearing the Gospel, he was so surprised. “That’s what it means to believe in Jesus?” I said, “Yes,” then that’s it. I convinced him. “There are about 3000 woman living in this dormitory, can you pass this track to them? I will give them a message through the PA system for 30 minutes.” This person because he was blessed by my words, “Yes, do that.” When he was strengthened, he began to full fledge pass out those tracks. So I just gave a 30 minute message. Then I said, “Anybody who wants to continue the Bible study, write your name down on a piece of paper and your contact number and return your form to the supervisor.” Over 300 people applied. Within 30 minutes, I planted another church. Church members said “There are no place to go evangelize,” but that’s not true. You have lost your way.
No matter how great of resource it may be, if you lose your way, you can’t get to it. It’s the same wherever you go. I remember even now. It’s the same even now. I went to Dong-a University. And there was a Deacon Oh there. That was it. It’s not all that difficult. You don’t have to go passing out tracks. I convinced this person. This person was a very faithful believer. Character-wise very faithful believer. Not a professor, but she happened to be a worker at Dong-A University. Honestly, it’s even better. Because this person can connect me to everyone. Connecting me with professors and if I need a place for Bible Study to every place, he connected me to a place. I didn’t have enough time to go evangelize. Look at people and they’ve all lost their way. There’s a way we can plow into the 5000 people groups. It doesn’t matter even if that person happens to be an unbeliever. If you’ve got just 10 people in your church, there are 100s of people behind those people. That is the DRB movement. Even though that person seem like they lack the strength, behind that person there is a person who has strength. I helped one mental patient and that person’s family had the strong background. It wasn’t that they were happy about this. They went beyond that. They were so thankful. Even though I didn’t say anything, they all came to the church and served the church. Rahab ? she didn’t just do this. It’s very important.

1. Rumor/News
Perhaps you might be in the same position as Rahab: having no power. However, let’s look at what she did. What was it? She heard news of the Gospel. She just heard the rumor, the news of this. She was able to do something that even those who saw it were not able to do it. How could she give this kind of confession? “Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.” She gave a confession not even a theologians cannot give. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. Even if you look at the theologian who study the eschatology, they think God just went some place and came back. They speak almost as if God is very far away when it’s very dark and returns. He is with us right now. Isn’t that so? Later on, Christ will stand as the King of Kings and the Lord of the Lords. You need to listen very well.
I’m sure there are many new believers. When you go to church, people will say very useless things. Don’t listen. The reason because ultimately what you are thinking will be imprinted in you. Ultimately, if your thinking is low-class, then you’ll receive a low-class answers. If your thoughts are complicated, then complicated things will happen. It’s very important. Listen well to this. These news. New believers, be very cautious when you go to church. Long time believers say a lot of useless things. What’s going to happen if you listen to that? It’s not even accurate and they keep on saying useless things. Because this person has been a believer for a very long time, the new believers will trust that person’s words. The long time believers criticize others. Why? Because they’ve known them for a long time and they know them better. You are going to die. That gets imprinted in your brain. It doesn’t just end there. It gets imprinted in your soul. That’s why the Bible talks about “Reviving your soul.” Once it gets imprinted into your soul, it gets connected to the eternity. It’s not your average problem. Businesspeople, if accurate things are imprinted in you, then accurate answers will come.
1) Spacious
The meaning of Rahab’s name is ‘spacious.’ I’m not sure whether it was her original name or she got that name later on. Whether it’s her original name or it was named after how she walked her walk of faith, but I think it was her original name. The Kings have their original names. There are cases where after that king dies, we see the historians think about what that person did and then label him with the name. Anyway, the meaning of her name means ‘large’ or ‘spacious’.
2) Jericho - Prostitute
She was a prostitute in the important city of Jericho. I’m sure she provided lodging as well as selling food and drink. When you view this from the eyes of the evangelist, it is a very important place. This is where the spies went in. Think about it. It’s very easy to enter into because it was a lodging. But Rahab already recognized who these people were. Then she received a notice from the king. “These spies entered into our nation. Have you seen them?” She said “Yes, I did see them, but they left” She told them the wrong way. I’m sure those people looking for them will go that way. That’s when she was able to send them out the back door and save them.
3) Exodus
What she said was “‘veI heard the news of Exodus.”
4) Confession of Faith
Then she gave her confession of faith. This is not just any answer. Accurately, answers come according to what is imprinted in your soul. For those with spiritual problems, don’t just try to look for the answers. Go the long run and the answers will absolutely come. Most people with spiritual problems are too rash and are obsessed with things. With just little bit of leisure, hold to the word. As much as you hold to the word, it will benefit you. Listen well to what people say. If you are not careful, you will be in trouble.
If you listen to the professionals say when they come out in the television when it comes to sports, I think it’s right. But if I try to exercise the way that person tells me, then I cannot continue that. Because when you listen to what they say, ‘you have to have an aerobic exercise’ and I think that’s right, but I don’t have the time to do that. But this one person said this. I believe that persons’s word is right. He said don’t listen to the useless words. Even if you just exercise for 5 minutes, as much as you exercise, it will benefit you. Even if you just exercise for 15 minutes, as much as you do that, it will benefit you. I thought ‘That’s right.’ If I need one hour, but I don’t have one hour, then I can’t exercise that day. Not too long ago, Reverend Jung Eunju sent me a Kakao Talk message. He sent me these words about “If you take 10,000 steps and how it affects your body. If you only take 7,000 steps and how it affects your body. I was thinking, ‘That’s right.’ So I tried that. I wasn’t running on a running machine. I was walking on a running machine. If I wanted to do 10,000 steps on a running machine, then it takes me over 3 hours. How can I walk 3 hours then? So I changed my thinking. As soon as I open my eyes, I turn on the running machine. As I turn on the television, I just walk. Then after about 20 minutes, I turn it off and come down and do something else. Then after I finish that, I come back. Since I was running the running machine, I just turn it back on. I’m walking very slowly where I can actually take a note. Very comfortably I can take 10,000 steps. Because I am very cautious of what I eat these days, my blood pressure is over 70 over 120. After receiving the message from Reverend Jung, I’ve been walking for days. My body condition became better and my blood pressure is only 60 over 110. I am at the point of being low blood pressure. Listen well to these rumors. Isn’t that so? Sometimes, you hear all kinds of ridiculous things. Don’t believe everything you listen to. If you listen to the Right Wingers, they keep on saying things that are only focused on the Right Wing and if you listen to the Left Wingers, they only talk about Left Wing things. They say these kinds of strange things. Don’t listen to that. When you go to church, don’t listen to man’s words. Listen to God’s words. Why? Because absolutely answers will come. If you are listening to the complicated things, that gets imprinted and those kinds of things will come.
If you are always angry, if you are always fighting, then you are going to receive destructive answers. If couple is always fighting, the answers will come that your children will perish. Why do you live that way? But that doesn’t happen the way you want. You need to heal that. It’s not up to you. Think about it. No one wants to get angry, but they are getting angry. The couple does not get married to fight with each other, but some of them end up fighting. We have to heal that. Heal that soul. In order to heal that soul, you need to realize that these kinds of thoughts, minds enter into your brain. Going tomorrow to listen to the sermon on the Lord’s Day, that is an urgent time for you. Until now, what we’ve learned was the Buddhist way of saying, “If we do this, then this answer will come.” “Joseph went to prison and the works took place there.” This is how we usually think. It doesn’t matter. Even though Joseph went to prison, Joseph was with God. Don’t lose hold of that. All of a sudden, he became a governor. In one sense, that’s not even an answer. The answer is something else - world evangelization. But in this way, we live our walk of faith in a strange way.

What took place in Rahab’s workplace. Think about it. He goes against the King of Jericho.
2) Protected the spies
Yet, how much confidence did she have? She protected those spies.
3) Information
Think about it. They were saying that there were rumors and news of you and their hearts are melted. Right now, everyone is trembling in their shoes. It’s already over. So that’s why these spies were able to have confidence. They went back and gave the report. A tremendous thing took place here.
3. Fruits
The fruits that arise from here is the business missions. Absolutely it comes according to #1. Remember that. There are some people who always criticize others. They criticize the pastor and they criticize the elder. I don’t know why they criticize a hard working elder. That’s crazy. Absolutely fruits will come. Why would you do that? It’s frustrating. Isn’t it? Absolutely, it comes. Accurate covenant you are holding onto, it absolutely comces. Believers, don’t become discouraged. Those with spiritual problems, don’t be shaken because answers will absolutely come. To what extent?
1) Salvation
At that time when everyone was perishing, they were saved. Even with just this, it was just amazing.
2) Family
Rahab just did that, but even her entire family received salvation. Joshua gives a special command says, “Kill everyone, but don’t touch anyone in Rahab’s home.” Do you know what happened?
3) Canaan
She goes to the land of Canaan with them. That’s how the answers come.
Becoming angry because things are not taking place and you are over-excited because things are taking place. Just don’t be that way. How can you run your business? You have to really think deeply in regards to the business decisions you make. There, she married someone named Salmon. Isn’t that so? Who did Salmon bear? Boaz ? Think about. Boaz was her son. Boaz had Jessee. Who did Jesse have? Jesse had David. Who is David? He was an important individual in the flow of Jesus’ genealogy. That is why the blind man Barthelemeous, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” You have to hold to the covenant. Instead of saying, “Heal me.” He said “Have mercy on me.” What’s the best prayer you can pray to God? ‘God, have mercy on me.’ Because that’s the only way. We are bound to perish, but have mercy on me. That’s the greatest prayer. It was not even asking for things. “Have pity on me.” What’s the conclusion?
Conclusion -
Eternal Time Schedule
I don’t know about anything else, but God’s work of salvation is in this eternal time schedule.
1. Hasty - Absolute Plan
Don’t be hasty. Find God’s absolute plan. At the very least, if you are businesspeople and church officers, find the absolute plan in the church. Don’t even try to do a lot. Just find the absolute plan of God. Your life is important. Your life should not be spent on just something walking down the street and buying something to eat. Your life is not a worth just one meal.
2. Lazy - Absolute Journey
Don’t even be lazy. In one sense, being hasty and being lazy are the same. We are traveling this absolute journey.
3. Humanism ? Absolute Goal
Don’t use humanism. Why is that? Because we have to see the absolute goal.
We want to start this year. It is not important which denomination does it. There’s something God wants. That’s why as we are doing the evangelism movement, we are going to sponsor the Kookmin Newspaper. The reason is because that is the only Christian publication out there. Even now, those people are so busy just to buy the paper to print tomorrow’s news on. They’ve got to put the words in that. Every single day. Think about it. It’s even difficult having the monthly publications. So much resources and so many things are going into that. I continue to say that even at the very beginning of our ministry. In one ways, those word on the newspaper are the ways to relay the Gospel. Full-fledge we need to pray about this and support them. Honestly, all the Korean churches need to arise and do this. That would be so simple, but the Korean churches don’t give any thoughts. It’s not anyone who can print the newspaper. In that sense, Reverend Jo Young Ki is very outstanding. We are the committed workers who hear news of God and relay them. Answers will absolutely come to you. So don’t be discouraged or don’t be overly excited. The accurate answers will come accurately. Especially our member in America, Europe and throughout the world, firmly hold to the covenant. Let us pray.
Prayer) May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the King of King, the great love of God, the work of the Holy Spirit, upon the members of every region, be both now and always forever. Amen.

My body condition became better and my blood pressure is only 60 over 110. I am at the point of being low blood pressure. Listen well to these rumors. Isn’t that so? Sometimes, you hear all kinds of ridiculous things. Don’t believe everything you listen to. If you listen to the Right Wingers, they keep on saying things that are only focused on the Right Wing and if you listen to the Left Wingers, they only talk about Left Wing things. They say these kinds of strange things. Don’t listen to that. When you go to church, don’t listen to man’s words. Listen to God’s words. Why? Because absolutely answers will come. If you are listening to the complicated things, that gets imprinted and those kinds of things will come.
If you are always angry, if you are always fighting, then you are going to receive destructive answers. If couple is always fighting, the answers will come that your children will perish. Why do you live that way? But that doesn’t happen the way you want. You need to heal that. It’s not up to you. Think about it. No one wants to get angry, but they are getting angry. The couple does not get married to fight with each other, but some of them end up fighting. We have to heal that. Heal that soul. In order to heal that soul, you need to realize that these kinds of thoughts, minds enter into your brain. Going tomorrow to listen to the sermon on the Lord’s Day, that is an urgent time for you. Until now, what we’ve learned was the Buddhist way of saying, “If we do this, then this answer will come.” “Joseph went to prison and the works took place there.” This is how we usually think. It doesn’t matter. Even though Joseph went to prison, Joseph was with God. Don’t lose hold of that. All of a sudden, he became a governor. In one sense, that’s not even an answer. The answer is something else - world evangelization. But in this way, we live our walk of faith in a strange way.

What took place in Rahab’s workplace. Think about it. He goes against the King of Jericho.
2) Protected the spies
Yet, how much confidence did she have? She protected those spies.
3) Information
Think about it. They were saying that there were rumors and news of you and their hearts are melted. Right now, everyone is trembling in their shoes. It’s already over. So that’s why these spies were able to have confidence. They went back and gave the report. A tremendous thing took place here.
3. Fruits
The fruits that arise from here is the business missions. Absolutely it comes according to #1. Remember that. There are some people who always criticize others. They criticize the pastor and they criticize the elder. I don’t know why they criticize a hard working elder. That’s crazy. Absolutely fruits will come. Why would you do that? It’s frustrating. Isn’t it? Absolutely, it comes. Accurate covenant you are holding onto, it absolutely comces. Believers, don’t become discouraged. Those with spiritual problems, don’t be shaken because answers will absolutely come. To what extent?
1) Salvation
At that time when everyone was perishing, they were saved. Even with just this, it was just amazing.
2) Family
Rahab just did that, but even her entire family received salvation. Joshua gives a special command says, “Kill everyone, but don’t touch anyone in Rahab’s home.” Do you know what happened?
3) Canaan
She goes to the land of Canaan with them. That’s how the answers come.
Becoming angry because things are not taking place and you are over-excited because things are taking place. Just don’t be that way. How can you run your business? You have to really think deeply in regards to the business decisions you make. There, she married someone named Salmon. Isn’t that so? Who did Salmon bear? Boaz ? Think about. Boaz was her son. Boaz had Jessee. Who did Jesse have? Jesse had David. Who is David? He was an important individual in the flow of Jesus’ genealogy. That is why the blind man Barthelemeous, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” You have to hold to the covenant. Instead of saying, “Heal me.” He said “Have mercy on me.” What’s the best prayer you can pray to God? ‘God, have mercy on me.’ Because that’s the only way. We are bound to perish, but have mercy on me. That’s the greatest prayer. It was not even asking for things. “Have pity on me.” What’s the conclusion?

Eternal Time Schedule
I don’t know about anything else, but God’s work of salvation is in this eternal time schedule.
1. Hasty - Absolute Plan
Don’t be hasty. Find God’s absolute plan. At the very least, if you are businesspeople and church officers, find the absolute plan in the church. Don’t even try to do a lot. Just find the absolute plan of God. Your life is important. Your life should not be spent on just something walking down the street and buying something to eat. Your life is not a worth just one meal.
2. Lazy - Absolute Journey
Don’t even be lazy. In one sense, being hasty and being lazy are the same. We are traveling this absolute journey.
3. Humanism ? Absolute Goal
Don’t use humanism. Why is that? Because we have to see the absolute goal.
We want to start this year. It is not important which denomination does it. There’s something God wants. That’s why as we are doing the evangelism movement, we are going to sponsor the Kookmin Newspaper. The reason is because that is the only Christian publication out there. Even now, those people are so busy just to buy the paper to print tomorrow’s news on. They’ve got to put the words in that. Every single day. Think about it. It’s even difficult having the monthly publications. So much resources and so many things are going into that. I continue to say that even at the very beginning of our ministry. In one ways, those word on the newspaper are the ways to relay the Gospel. Full-fledge we need to pray about this and support them. Honestly, all the Korean churches need to arise and do this. That would be so simple, but the Korean churches don’t give any thoughts. It’s not anyone who can print the newspaper. In that sense, Reverend Jo Young Ki is very outstanding. We are the committed workers who hear news of God and relay them. Answers will absolutely come to you. So don’t be discouraged or don’t be overly excited. The accurate answers will come accurately. Especially our member in America, Europe and throughout the world, firmly hold to the covenant. Let us pray.
